Current known issues with this site

So as you may have been able to guess, this site is still under construcion (but more complete than it used to be) and so there are some issues, some things that just bother me to no end. Are there enough to write an entire aritcle about? no, not really, but I just wanted to feel cool and write one anyway, here we go!

The cosmetic issues

This site doesn't look that great at the moment, and I am not going to pretend that it does. Yeah it is kind of within spirit of self built sites, but I feel like I can do better. It feels very ...flat and no matter what I do, I can't seem to quite hit the nail on the head in terms of improving that. The website being written in a way where at any moment anything can break due to my poor html experience does not help this issue either. The worst offender of this deserves it's own section.

This may or may not be apparent to you, depending on what platform and resolution you view this site on but the side bar is extremely janky. The mark-up and styling behind it is very bad, can you tell that this is the first time I am making something of this magnitude? If you go to the images tab you may be able to notice that it is ever soooo slightly higher than on other pages. You wanna know why that is? It's like this because the "side" bar is in actuality on the top of the page, above the main page(which is very noticable if you look at the page zoomed all the way in or if you're on a phone) and it's just awkwardly margined towards the left side of the screen. Okay that would be fine, but the thing that really messes this up is that because it is done this way the main text page has to be also awkwardly margined so it's not postitioned who knows where underneath the bar, making it really awkward and painful to add a new section to it, since every single item moves the main body of the page, meaning that I have to go back in and fix it each and every time.

Are there better ways of doing this? Almost certainly! I have found dozens of tutorials on how to actually properly do this online, but I don't want to outright steal "code"(or I guess mark-up would be the better term) and I am not skilled enough with web development to really take in what is really being taught to me and allow me to make my own version of it, not to mention that just jacking a snippet of mark up or styling or code or whatever from somewhere on the internet without thinking about what is does is less than worthless, it will not teach me anything, which is what I am ultimately aiming for, I want to understand what I am doing wrong and how to fix it, not just find a quick and dirty solution that might work. As you can tell, this is my current biggest gripe, enemy and nemesis regarding this site's design.

There's not much to do

As you might've noticed, as of now there really aren't that many things to do, and there's really no reason to stick around. This is because I've only been working on what I hope will become a long-time project for a fairly short while (only a little more than a week), which combined with my lack of experience basically means that adding things will take a while. Even if it didn't, the issues above make it very difficult to focus on a lack of content, since I feel like I should sort those out before adding too much stuff and what once were easy to fix problems to become unmanagable. I'll be sure to add more things as time goes on, but for now, this internet place sucks. I even question what I should add, at the moment I feel somewhat aimless, but I found the best solution to that is to just do it therefore making that issue pretty much irrelevant (for now at least)

This site has been an incredible learning experience for me, basically everything you see here I've figured out on the spot with multiple mdn tabs open. Even if there really isn't anyone coming here (yet?) it's worth it, for myself. It's the same kind of feeling as creating an incredible, elaborate single player minecraft world which you never publish and only keep to yourself, except instead of it being incredible and elaborate it is kind of alright and instead of keeping it to yourself it is out there, no one just wants to visit it. Anyways this last paragraph has gone completely off topic, so I suppose as of today these are all of the vague issues I am currently working on fixing in some capacity.
